Lloyd "Bud" Timmons

Lloyd "Bud" Timmons, our Class 55-D Cadet Colonel at Webb AFB had quite a flying career started before he joined the Air Force. Bud, who soloed when he was 15 years old, had over 1200 flying hours logged when he was dusting in the attached photos. These historic photos, taken of Bud in Oregon, are the first time that aircraft were used to spray cattle and sheep.

Bud went on to a full and intense Air Force career which included extensive time in the T-33 "T-Bird", the B-47, C-123, and the KC-135 as well as a myriad of other aircraft including F-4's, F-105's. He put in four (4) tours in Vietnam and received the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) for his actions flying a Ranch Hand mission. While under enemy fire, protecting a stricken C-123 aircraft and crew by placing his aircraft between that aircraft and enemy fire, he took 44 hits in his own plane in the process.

Bud, with over 13,000 logged hours is a distinguished member of our Class 55-D Alumni.
